Asia Argento grew up in Rome Italy. Her family is made up of actors, and she has also been doing both professions. As a young girl, Asia Argento made her acting debut in Sergio Cittis's Sogni e bisogni. In 1988 the film of Michele Soavi's The Church was directed by Michele Soavi and she played in the role of Cristina Comencini's Zoo. In 1989, she played Nanni Moretti's child for the film Red Wood Pigeon. (Also directed by Moretti). Close Friends, written and directed Michele Placido in 1992, was the point where Asia's acting career started off. From playing young girl roles, she went on to play more complex and more mature roles. The film received an enthusiastic review during the Cannes International Film Festival. Trauma was her debut film made with her father. Her mother, Daria Nicoledi, was Argento's most beloved actress. In Trauma she played an orexic searching for the murderer of her parents. The Phantom of the Opera was her third film together with her father with the other two being Trauma, and The Stendhal Syndrome. The actress's deeply absorbed and intense style of acting has been well used in Giuseppe Piccioni's Condannato a nozze. Patrice Chereau directed her in Queen Margot in which she was a major character. In 1995 Asia worked with Michel Piccoli to produce Peter Del Monte's Traveling Companion, for which she won a David di Donatello. Asia started directing as profession in 1994. Her debut short film was Prospettive. A documentary she created about her dad followed by Abel/Asia (1998) which was a movie that won a prize during the Rome Film Festival, were both directed between 1996 and 1998. Asia's feature-length debut came in the form of Scarlet Diva (2000) in 1999, where she also played the role of lead actress and wrote the screenplay. The movie was released worldwide in May 2000. This film was awarded during the Williamsburg Festival of Brooklyn, New York. Anna Lou was her first born daughter in 2001. After directing several music videos, she welcomed Anna Lou. In 2002 Asia appeared in The Red Siren with Jean Marc Barr, and Rob Cohen's Action thriller, which was directed by Vin Diesel. Asia is the writer of several short stories, that were released in several magazines.
